James Last’s debut, ‘In The Moon For Trumpets’, does not fit easily into one genre. After debuting at No. 1 last week, James Last’s album In The Moon For Trumpets falls to No. 2 with 931,000, a sales slide of 67%. It’s a brave and brilliant refocusing of James Last energies, virtually a rebirth. This is one of the best cd’s i have heard through the whole thing.
James Last is hitting on all cylinders in Tuxedo Junction. In A String Of Pearls it becomes nowhere more obvious that James Last has yet to define own style. I Know Why - Well, here we get a bit more meaning. Music of Chattanooga Choo Choo is gentle, never overbearing. Moonlight Serenade stands out to me for its audacious melody and sheer beauty. The Volga Boatman is a song to enjoy for years to come. Fools Rush In - James Last first major hit. That Old Black Magic - another great track from the In The Moon For Trumpets album. St.Louis Blues March - My least favorite song on this album. I like Little Brown Jug because it’s extremely catchy and has awesome drumming. Americain Patrol is a great opener for In The Moon For Trumpets.
