Since completing 1975’s ‘Main Title and First Victim’, John Williams fulfilled their contract with Virgin Records and where under no obligation to release another album. This disc has all of the essential John Williams classics. Jaws carries a very emotional theme throughout the album. Cool, but I like their other actual stuff better like Jaws.
Empty Raft motivates you to get up and do something to improve your life and the life of others. Pier Incident - Check out that bassline! Shark Cage Fugue is worth the money. This song is like perfectly aged vintage bordeaux wine not a tequila shot. The sound in Ben Gardner’s Boat is really warm and John Williams’s signature voice is still very much present. One of the more genuine-sounding songs is Montage. Father and Son is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. I have all of John Williams’s tracks and Into the Estuary is probably the most his introspective effort. Out to Sea is a bit of a show-tune. Man Against Beast - This is a very lively song. Quint’s Tale is one of the most beautiful songs ever to grace my stereo. Brody Panics is the album’s biggest hit, I think. Barrel off Starboard marked the continuation of John Williams in style evolution. Great Shark Chase is the song that really did it for me. Awesome song is really all that you can say about it. Between Attacks is really a nice song to relax and listen too. The opening track Shark Approaches is very much like you would expect from other albums. I find myself hearing bits of Blown to Bits here and there throughout my waking hours. So much energy, so exciting a sound.
