Since completing 1975’s ‘El Mayor’, Silvio Rodriguez fulfilled their contract with EMI Records and where under no obligation to release another album. Silvio Rodriguez’s debut, ‘Te Doy Una Cancion’, does not fit easily into one genre. Nowhere is this more so than on their re-working of Silvio Rodriguez on ‘El Mayor’. This is the best album I have heard in a long time
This song stands out greatly from the others. In Como esperando abril full palet of sound is used by Silvio Rodriguez to accentuate the presentation. Voice and instruments in La verguenza complement each other. Yo digo que las estrellas is filled with very deep emotions that will truly touch your heart. Pequena serenata diurna has a fun tempo. I hope to keep hearing Silvio Rodriguez works for a long time to come. The song feels complete. I like the agression and power of Esta cancion. Simply the finest work ever from this multi-talented singer. En el claro de luna is a pleasing, and full of overall coherence that goes beyond other creations. Excellent vocals and musical performances. Dias y flores is the albums biggest surprise.
